Tips on a good vacation spots for first time skiing?

Im from Hawaii and I’ve never seen or touch snow in my life, I want to plan a vacation for my husband and I to go skiing or snowboarding (for beginners of course). I preferably would like to stay in the states of California, Oregon and Washington, or the states closest to Hawaii with snow. Any suggestions?
